Dr. Yona Barak is one of the pioneers in the field of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). She graduated the Faculty of Life Sciences in conjunction with the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, in Tel Aviv University. A desired lecturer, expert, one of the world-seniors scientists in the field of IVF and former chairman of the IVF organization “Alpha – Scientists for Reproductive Medicine.” Dr. Barak has been involved in more than 40,000 IVF babies around the world.

Her expertise in the field of reproductive medicine was completed as part of the team which initiated one of the first IVF laboratories in Israel combining science with medicine. The first laboratory was established and operated in “HaKirya” hospital. 30 years have passed since then and Dr. Barak is still prospering in the field of reproductive medicine.

Dr. Barak is engaged in setting up IVF units, around the world. In 1986 she was one of the founders of the IVF unit at the Medical Center in Herzliya, worked there as a partner and in charge of the management for about 25 years. Over the years, she was a partner, and founded and managed a number of IVF laboratories in Israel and abroad. Throughout her career, Dr. Barak has been collaborating with leading physicians and scientists in the field of IVF, among which are: Professor Perry (Perez) Kreitzer, God rest his soul, Professor Dov Feldberg, Professor Ellenbogen, Professor Neri Laufer, Dr. Amir Arev, Dr. Ovri Yoffe and Dr. Ofer Gonen.

The need for treatments in unconventional timings, the requirements of her thousands of customers and her partners along the way – all led her to the opening of private laboratories in Israel, where she advises, investigates and develops the field of IVF.

Dr. Yona Barak: “I remember the adversities I had to go through, during my fertility treatments and my urgent need of 24 hours available laboratory. I had no other choice but undergoing re-treatment, because the timing was unconventional, where a lab is not to be reached.”
